First year teacher? Yep, that's me. :)
I am so excited!!
I graduated from the University of South Carolina in May 2009 with a BA in Elementary Education. I was unable to find a job. I went to Winthrop for a semester and now have nine credit hours in Middle Level Education. While I was taking classes and being busy being a wife (first year of marriage!) I also taught in three long-term substitute positions in a local middle school.
I continued to search for a job. I went to numerous interviews. I was nervous. I know they could tell. The interviews went ok, but with budget cuts and all the schools always went with a "more qualified" candidate. Who can blame them? Not me.
Well, as luck would have it, my persistence has paid off and I am now going to be teaching in my very own classroom for the first time! I will be teaching second grade. I am excited!!!
I'm starting this blog to record my first year of teaching... I'd love followers, but of course, it's not a requirement for you to follow in order for you to enjoy my ups, downs, trials, and tribulations right along with me!
Here is my classroom. I went to visit yesterday and took a few photos. I can't wait to decorate!
I am so excited for you! You will make an EXCELLENT teacher! Can't wait to follow your first year. Your Old Art Teacher...Susan Cooper

ReplyDeleteWell, Maggie Pie, I can certainly see why you're so excited about your classroom and can't wait to see what how you decorate it...you're such an artist, I feel sure it will be just as amazing as you...hope you can make it to Ladies Lunch again sometime. Luv U, Gayle
ReplyDeleteBTW, I'm signing on thru Ike's Google Account.
Congratulations!!! I am so happy for you!!! I can not wait to follow along on your new journey!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great classroom!! It is so exciting to decorate and set your classroom up! Can't wait to see pictures once you get working in there!! Second grade is the BEST grade ever!! You'll love it!
ReplyDeleteYour classroom looks big! You've reminded me that I have not been able to post all my beginning of the year school pics on a blog before! I started mine when the school year was soon to be over. I remember last year taking pics of my classroom when it was ready for my kiddos and sending them out to my mom, who in turn sent them to all my relatives because she was so proud. It's definitely an exciting time. I will be excited to follow you on your journey and share my stories on my blog along the way this year too!
ReplyDeleteAmazing work you are getting done and so creative. . .I AM WAY IMPRESSED! You are a future teacher of the year or two or three!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Days Ahead!
Gayle
